Six Fundamental Principles
- A positive mental attitude
A positive mental attitude encompasses right attitude, an in-depth self-analysis and emotional mastery. In fact, "millions end up in mental institutions or under the care of psychiatrists because they do not really want to know themselves, to face themselves and their flaws. But this is the first growing up step everyone must take," says Sri Daya Mata, President of the Self Realization Fellowship.
- Metabolic functional nutrition
There are two parts to this. Part one focuses on foods you eat and is based on your mind body constitution, which is determined at birth. Part two focuses on the use of herbs and vitamins in the treatment of disease and is preferably used for short term healing along with a therapeutic diet based on your mind body constitution that is out of balance.
- Correct posture
Correct posture is doing the correct exercise in Yoga for your mind body constitution. It is the posture that your body will allow you to do to the best of your ability.
- Healthy breathing
The secret key to transcending the body, mind and emotions is the breath. There is an entire science regarding the breath called Swara Yoga.
- Authentic meditation
The cornerstone of authentic Yoga practices and of all genuine stress management programs is meditation. Practicing Yoga without the practice of authentic meditation is like riding the horse backwards without a saddle.
- Internal cleansing
In Kayakalpa medicine, Ayurveda medicine and in Hatha Yoga practices it is clearly outlined the importance of internal cleansing. Cleansing encompasses the use of therapeutic foods, oils, sweat, enemas, vomiting, skin brushing, the use of herbs, and other special concoctions to purify and re-mineralize the body.
